On 7th June 1969 Father Jerome Ainsworth was ordained by Bishop Foley at St Andrew’s in Cottam.

Today we welcomed back Father Jerome as he celebrated the morning Mass.
Father Jerome used the same chalice that was used at his ordination.

Father Jerome is the last parishioner from St Andrew’s to be ordained to the Priesthood.

It was wonderful to hear stories of the past from Father Jerome and to have parishioners John Cookson & Bernard Hothersall in the congregation who remember Father Jerome as a young man of Cottam.

Father, unworthy as I am, You have chosen me
to share in the eternal priesthood of
Christ and the ministry of Your Church.
May I be an ardent but gentle servant of
Your gospel and Your sacraments.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
