Resumption of Public Mass

We are delighted that from Saturday 4th July 2020 we will be able to open for public mass at both St Andrew’s and St Mary’s.
The first public Mass to take place will be the vigil Mass at 5:30pm.
We will continue to stream this Mass as we know it will not be possible for everyone to return to be physically present at Mass at this time.
(Please note as the 5:30pm Mass is being streamed live on the internet your image may be included on the broadcast. If you do not wish for this to happen, please consider attending at another time)

There will be a number of changes to the way you attend the church and the way that Mass is said. There may be a restriction on the number of people that can attend each Mass.

The obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains suspended. Those people who are able to attend Mass during the week may consider this in preference to a Sunday visit. This will allow those who can only attend at the weekend to attend.

Full details on the resumption of public Mass at St Andrew’s and St Mary’s will be published on the website later in the week. Please check back for updates.

As with the opening of the church for private prayer, the most important aspects is that you are very welcome to return to both our churches. The restrictions, which we must live with for the moment, are only there to ensure the safety of us all.

The Metropolitan Archbishops have issued a statement on the resumption of public Mass which you can read here.

Cardinal Nichols has issued a video on the resumption of public liturgies, which you can watch below.

STANDING ORDERS

With the present lockdown the parish income has been greatly reduced, because parishioners are unable to make their usual offerings in the collection.
In the light of this I should be most grateful if parishioners would consider setting up a Standing Order to the parish.
If you feel you would like to do this, please email me parishpriest@standrewscottam.org.uk and I shall forward you the parish account details.
Many thanks for your generosity.  Canon Adrian
